February is one of the best-balanced months to visit Goa: dry, sunny weather of about 31–33°C, calm seas and better value than the December–January peak. The big event is Goa Carnival, expected from about 6 to 9 February 2027, the four days before Ash Wednesday. Goa Weather in February: Dry, Sunny and Slowly Warming

February weather in Goa is dry and sunny, with comfortable evenings and very little chance of rain. The first half of the month feels much like January, with pleasant mornings. By late February, days get warmer and humidity starts to rise, a first sign of the hotter months ahead. Plan outdoor sightseeing for mornings, and keep afternoons for the beach, the pool or a long lunch.

Sea Conditions in February

The sea off North Goa is usually calm and clear in February, which makes it one of the best months for swimming. Candolim, Calangute and Baga have flagged swimming zones watched by lifeguards, and the northern beaches of Ashwem and Mandrem have gentle water on most days. Winds can pick up in the afternoons late in the month, so swim in the morning if you want the flattest sea. Always stay out when a red flag is up.

Crowds and Prices in Goa in February

February offers peak-season weather after the peak-season rush has passed. The Christmas and New Year crowds have gone home, many long-stay winter visitors are still around, and beaches feel busy but not packed. Goa Carnival (About 6–9 February 2027)

Goa Carnival is a four-day street festival with Portuguese roots, held just before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. In 2027, Ash Wednesday falls on 10 February, so Carnival is expected from about 6 to 9 February. It traditionally opens in Panaji with the arrival of King Momo, the carnival king, followed by a parade of floats, bands and dancers in costume. Goa Tourism's tentative calendar lists Carnival events in Panaji, Porvorim, Mapusa, Margao, Vasco and Morjim for 2027, with each town holding its parade on a different day.

• Watching is usually free: parades run along public roads, so you can watch from the roadside.
• Arrive early: reach the route an hour or two before the start to find a good spot.
• Do not drive in: roads near the route close for the parade, so take a taxi and walk the last stretch.
• Stay light: carry water, sunscreen and a small bag, and keep valuables close in the crowd.

Carnival ends on the Tuesday night, and Lent begins the next day with Ash Wednesday services in churches across Goa. Many Goan Catholic families observe Lent quietly, but beaches, restaurants and markets carry on as normal for visitors.

Valentine's Day (Sunday 14 February)

Best Beaches and Things to Do in Goa in February

February suits almost every activity in North Goa, from water sports and boat trips to heritage walks and market evenings.

Beaches for Swimming and Sunsets

Calangute and Baga are lively and have the most water sports. Candolim and Sinquerim are calmer and good for families. Anjuna and Vagator suit sunset views from the cliffs. In the far north, Ashwem, Mandrem and Morjim stay quiet, and Morjim is an Olive Ridley turtle nesting beach, so keep clear of any fenced-off nests.

Boat Trips and Water Sports

February is still good for birdwatching, because many winter migrants stay until early spring. Dudhsagar Falls carries less water by February, but jeep safaris from Collem usually still run, so check they are operating before you go.
