Where in Goa should you stay?

First trip with a mix of beach and nightlife? The Calangute and Baga belt is the usual answer, with plenty of restaurants and easy transport. Candolim is a little calmer. Anjuna and Vagator lean towards cafes and music. South Goa is the choice for a slower trip. Our two hotels are in Calangute, so they fit the first kind of trip best.

— Why choose us

Why guests book our hotels in Goa

01

Check the map, not the name

'Near the beach' can mean a long walk. Ask for the actual distance.

02

Watch the peak dates

Prices can rise sharply over Christmas and New Year, so book those early.

03

Compare the final price

Taxes and meals can change which hotel really is cheaper.

Before you book any Goa hotel

Five things worth checking, wherever you stay.

Your checklist

  • How far the beach really is, on foot
  • Whether taxes are in the price you see
  • Whether breakfast is included
  • The cancellation terms for your dates
  • Recent reviews, not just the overall score

Inclusions

If Calangute suits your trip, Vilmaris Breeze is our simpler option and Vilmaris Luxe is the one with more facilities. Both have a swimming pool and a restaurant. Our North Goa hotels page compares their rooms and rates.

Location guide

Goa is small enough that you can visit other areas on day trips, but crossing from North to South can take well over an hour. Choosing the right base saves a lot of time on the road.

— FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which part of Goa is best for a first visit?

Many first-timers pick the Calangute, Baga and Candolim stretch, because it's easy to find food, beaches and transport there. If you want a quiet holiday, look at South Goa.

Do you have hotels in South Goa?

No. Both of our hotels are in Calangute, North Goa.

What star rating are your hotels?

Vilmaris Luxe is a 4-star hotel and Vilmaris Breeze is a 3-star hotel.

Should we book a hotel or a villa?

For two or three people, a hotel usually makes more sense. Once you're about six or more, compare it with a villa.
